Okay, so that's not true. So back to the alloy rims - they are made out of what is called a metal alloy - a blend of aluminum and other elements. Alloy rims provide superior strength with much less weight when compared to steel wheels. Because of this, they are the ideal material from which to manufacture custom racing wheels. In fact, you would probably have a hard time finding a race car or dragster that doesn't take advantage of the benefits of alloy rims. Alloy rims are the choice for most people looking for custom wheels for their vehicle. Although you can get steel wheels too, they are not as popular in the aftermarket rims industry.
